I painted the same barn image again, playing with some different colours. This time I went into the red/orange/yellow spectrum. What do you think? Any preference: red palette vs. the blue/grey that I had painted previously?
I won't be posting for a couple of weeks, as we are going on a family vacation to Palm Springs/Anaheim. Woo-hoo. I am ready for some heat. I hope to have some great pictures from Joshua Tree National Park to paint from when I get back.

I looked back and forth - and I just can't say I prefer one over the other. This one's a bit more traditional I suppose. But it's a tossup for me.
Both really great efforts.
It's like you asking me if I like my daughter over my son. I like this one because it's warm against a cool sky. It like the other because it appears the wood is worn by seaspray and its against a beautiful sky. I love how you experiment.
Being a "red" person, I like this one. But they are both great. I am always inspired by you.
I also like the red one a little better, but I like warm colors! They both are fantastic, I love your use of under painting!
I thought it was an interesting comparison, vis-a-vis having just read Robert Genn's essay on blue being the more creative colourful. I couldn't choose either, I want them both.
There was an interesting review on CBC this morning of a book called The Art Instinct by Dennis Dutton that I think you would like.
Are you still feeling amazed about Joshua Tree? Weird and wonderful!
I'm sOo into the warm tones in this one. Is it because I'm a little on the chilly side right now? Will I prefer the cool blues mid-summer? Both lovely.

Both barns are GREAT,Jennifer, but this red one's my favorite.
