Mossy Rocks Study
16"x16"
Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
This is the latest instalment of plein air painting. I just painted this on Monday. My girlfriend and I went to the Kolapore area and hiked in a way. Unfortunately the bugs were so bad that we were chased right out again! So we drove around to the other side of that area, to Metcalfe Rock. Here the forest is higher, and had a few breezes to keep the bugs off us. Instead we had the rock climbers to kept us company, with the sounds of "belay on" heard in the background.
It was another great day, and the sun hitting the rocks capped in moss seemed the perfect subject to me...

Drowning Light - Study
16"x16'
Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
This is the next completed plein air painting of mine. It was painted down by the Beaver River, near Epping, where the river has flooded into a forest. I got some fantastic pictures, many of them have an abstract quality to them. You will be seeing more of these!

Riverbend
16"x16"
Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
This one was painted about a month ago when I was out painting plein air with a good friend. We parked ourselves in Slabtown, along a bend in the Beaver River, where the cool breezes and sound of water entertained us all day (as well as lots of chatting and catching up). When you are in the studio alone most of the time, it truly is a treat to get outside, paint and visit with a friend all at the same time. Three of my favourite things all rolled into one.
I am heading out on another plein air excursion today!
Happy Canada Day...
