At the Pond's Edge
Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
We have a large pond on our property, located right beside our house. It can be seen outside of just about every window in the house, so it plays a major factor in our views. It is a great way to mark the seasonal changes. Recently, the ice has finally melted off it, though with the last couple of chilly mornings, a film of the crispy stuff has formed before the first few hours of sunshine can melt it off again.
We have a huge variety of wildlife that take advantage of this spot. It is home to hundreds of frogs, painted turtles, rock bass, a couple of enormous goldfish (put in the pond almost twenty years ago by the original owners!), and most recently muskrats, not to mention the birds that stop in for a visit, or a snack (shoo herons).
I have a lot to learn about painting water, but reflections are always a good place to start.

Purple Hills
18"x36"
Acrylic on Canvas
Moyaboya
Another painting from the Creemore area, with it's lovely rolling topography. The area is known for it's Purple Hills.
One thing I do sometimes if I am having trouble getting jazzed up to paint, is either to look through my art books, or surf the web looking at the work of some of my favourite artists. It is always a great way to get inspired to paint. Donna Andreychk, a fellow Ontario artist, is one of those that I follow. Her work sings with subtle, yet rich, vibrant colours, and I love her brush work. I recently had the opportunity to meet her, and she is a lovely person to boot!

Wow - spring is really here. We have gorgeous sunshine and warm weather yet again. Perfect for my son's spring break. Now I just need to drag the easel out onto the deck...

Cabin in the Woods Study
12"x12"
Acrylic on Canvas
I like this composition. I think I will do a few more variations on this piece, with different subject and ground colours. It is good to experiment every once in a while. I don't do it nearly enough.

Creemore Rolling Hills
18"x36"
Acrylic on Canvas
SOLD
I think that I will be painting more like this one. I enjoyed the wide angle view, and rolling scenery. Creemore and the Beaver Valley will give me lots of foder for more paintings. It is sunny and beautiful out today - I think I have the bug for Spring! Time for the snow to begin to melt. How I love the changing seasons. There is always something new to get excited about painiting.
